Seventeen and unable to get along with his mother, Lane
Garrison left home and moved in with Joe Simpson -- the manager
and father of pop stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson.
Lane Garrison graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in
Richardson, Texas in 1998, and at 18, drove to Los Angeles to
become an actor. Lane Garrison's first job was a backpack
commercial that paid $3,500.
Lane Garrison recently completed work on the second season of
Prison Break. His character, Tweener, was killed off by letting
one of the antagonists kill him.
Lane was involved in a minor traffic accident on October 19,
2006 after leaving Hyde nightclub in Los Angeles. Garrison was
behind another vehicle at a four-way, signalized intersection
when he was surrounded by people who approached from down the
street yelling, "Stop the car, stop the car!" After Lane begins
speaking to one of them, another man continues yelling, "Hey,
stop the car", and a third vehicle begins honking and flashing
its high beams. No damage appears on either vehicle, although it
is unclear from paparazzi film of the incident if Garrison had
struck another vehicle earlier or if he had struck the vehicle
ahead of him in traffic.
Lane was involved in a more serious car accident on December 2,
2006 at approximately 11:50 PM in Beverly Hills, California. 17
year-old Vahagn Setian died and two 15 year-old girls were
injured when Garrison's SUV crashed into a tree. According to
Garrison's lawyer, Harland Braun, Garrison met the three teens
at a supermarket and accompanied them to a house party. Garrison
claims he had one drink (as well as a margarita at a Mexican
restaurant). When leaving to meet a woman at his apartment, the
teens asked to accompany him and were all in the backseat when
the accident occurred.
According to his lawyer, Lane has no recollection of the
accident, and was "despondent" when he found out the news of the
boy's death. A sample of his blood was taken, and will determine
his blood-alcohol content within several weeks.
Lane's 2001 Range Rover had allegedly previously been
experiencing faulty brakes and alignment issues. Copies of the
repair receipts were sent to police.
According to Setian's friends, Lane's story is untrue. They say
Garrison allegedly met the teens at a gas station and
accompanied them to the party with a bottle of Grey Goose vodka.
Garrison took several shots before leaving with the teens to buy
more alcohol, and after several hours, the rest of the people at
the party became worried. They then left, only to find the
accident and discover that all of the car's occupants were in
the hospital. They also claim to have pictures showing Lane
drinking.
