Without any formal training as an actor, Lucas Black's first film debut was
in the 1994 Kevin Costner film, The
War. This role helped him get the role as Caleb Temple in CBS's American Gothic.
While the show was only on for one year, the selective young actor garnered
meatier roles in Sling Blade, Ghosts of Mississippi and The X-Files: Fight the
Future.
In 1998, Lucas Black was offered the lead part in The Horse Whisperer. However,
when he was told that he would need to change his voice for the part, he
rejected the role, believing that actors should choose parts where they could be
themselves.
After Lucas's graduation in 2001, the Calvin Klein model could be seen in Friday
Night Lights, Cold Mountain and Jarhead. He is currently in the male lead of
Justin Lin's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
