Biography
Monica Potter was born in Cleveland, Ohio to an Irish
Catholic family. Growing up, she was a part of the St. Jerome
Parish in Cleveland, and went to the elementary school there as
a child. She first attended high school at Villa Angela Catholic
School for Girls, then later graduated from the Euclid High
School.
Monica Potter started modeling and doing commercials at the age
of 12 in both Chicago and Miami before she decided to try out
acting.
Potter is one of four daughters of an inventor and a secretary
and says that she knew from childhood that she wanted to be an
actress one day. She almost became a nun, but for the fact that
she was married and pregnant at 19.
Monica Potter starred opposite Nicolas Cage in Con Air, Robin
Williams in Patch Adams,
Freddie Prinze Jr.
in Head Over Heels,
Yasmine Bleeth in Heaven or Vegas, and Morgan Freeman in
the thriller Along Came a Spider. She currently has a recurring
role on the television series, Boston Legal. In 2004, she
starred in the film Reversible Errors. Monica's following film
was Saw.
Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows allegedly wrote the song Mrs.
Potter's Lullaby about her after watching Patch Adams.
Monica Potter was previously married to Tom Potter, with whom
she has two sons. She is now married to Daniel Christopher
Allison, an orthopedic surgeon. Potter and Allison welcomed
their first child, a daughter named Molly Brigid Allison, on
August 3, 2005.
